Whether it’s their first enquiry, the day of the shoot or the day they receive their beautiful prints, every interaction with your client shapes their impression of you and your brand. Understand the customer journey Start by listing all the steps your clients take when working with you — their initial enquiry, the booking, your pre-shoot communications, the shoot itself, and product selection and delivery. Previous | Contents | Next Download the eBook GOOD is what gets people in the door, like a newspaper headline or a “special” at the supermarket. Good is what makes you competitive. Don’t offer just one service, offer choices. Don’t assume the deal that encourages people to get in touch with you is the one they’ll commit to later (once you’ve open their eyes to how good you are, and what you can do for them). And don’t assume that they won’t go even further once they’ve fallen in love with their own photographs. That’s the To View More >>

The four-week New Zealand COVID-19 shut-down starts 26 March. And since announcing that Queensberry's production will be on hold for the duration we’ve had lots of people asking whether Print Shop will be available. It's obviously unfortunate timing, but the short answer is yes. However, order deliveries will be delayed. Print Shop functionality will remain active in Workspace, and we encourage you to continue setting up — not just Print Shop but also, if you haven't done so yet, your standard Image Gallery shopping carts. Flushmounts are our most popular albums, but we get two requests regularly — more pages and less confusion! So, amongst other things, we’re simplifying the range and adding new thin pages. Watch out for the release announcements, and the introductory offers. Here’s what we’ll be offering in Flushmount: — All album sizes (including new 9x9 and 12x9, which we expect to introduce in the New Year —they’re already a hit in Studio Albums). — All our cover and upgrade options. — Heavy, medium and thin pages (for up to 30, 45 and 60 pages). — Three To View More >>

Selling albums online is now common, and for very good reason. If you’re shooting destination or out-of-town weddings, chances are you’ll never see clients except on the big day. Even people who live on the other side of the city can face a big commute every time they come to see you. This becomes more of an issue the more successful you are, as people will be booking you as a result of referrals and your reputation—not because you’re handy and don’t charge too much! But selling online can be more difficult than in the studio. First, it’s harder to get people To View More >>

Should you focus all your marketing energy on finding new customers? Maybe not! Generating extra revenue from the clients you already have can be simple, effective and very satisfying. This excellent article by Ago Cluytens explains a few ways to go about it, and in this post we're going to look at how to apply his ideas to your photography business. Continuing on from Katherine’s first post, 'Why Albums?', Katherine has a few more tips about how she educates her clients about printing, and some advice for photographers who might just be starting to offer albums in their packages. How do you educate your clients about the importance of printing, rather than leaving photographs on a USB? An album really is a personal preference, so I try not to push them on my clients, but now I have over 50% of my couples order albums, I love to know they will treasure these for 30, 40 maybe even 50 years! I talk about and share my albums as To View More >>

Online galleries are a great way to display your portfolio, but printed portfolios have way more impact . And here's something different again – a "portfolio album". Such an impressive calling card! This particular portfolio is a 10x10 Panorama Flushmount with Fine Art printing — a high-end choice. Panoramas are perfect for big, bold imagery. You can spread a single photograph across a double page spread for major impact — creased, not cut, at the spine. Q-Books (medium and light) are affordable alternatives.
